During week commencing Monday 11 April, the new lead flashings on the chancel roof at the nave east wall and on the nave roof at the tower wall were fitted, trimmed and fixed.
The new flashings from the tower wall to the nave roof.
The stone masons replaced the north east corner parapet ashlar with a new Great Tew stone carved to fit. Then they were able fit the gable end capping stones.
The north east corner nave parapet ashlar stone was replaced with a new stone carved of Great Tew ironstone to fit. A new capping stone went back to protect it for a century or two.The gable end capping stones mortared back in place and securing the new flashings.
The stone masons installed the three smaller pieces to patch into eroded ashlar parapet stones on the south side and another one on the north side.
The orange stone dust on the north side of the nave parapet is the result of cutting out an eroded section of the ashlar stone and setting in a new piece of Great Tew stone before the capping stone covers them over.
Replacing the cappings on the south parapet must have seemed easy after these fiddly jobs.
