Badby & District Horticultural Society

Badby and District Horticultural Society is for everyone with an interest in gardening.

The society currently has over 50 members, all of whom have a keen interest in gardening, be it for flowers or vegetables. Whilst horticulture is the central plank of the society, its three guiding principles are inclusivity, fun and community. New members, of any age, are most welcome (and membership is free!).

We have recently re-joined the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) which means members can access a number of benefits; A free group trip to visit one of the RHS flagship gardens, a card that can give discounted entry for members to RHS gardens, specialist gardening advice etc..

This year we will be resurrecting the Badby Horticultural Show as part of the Badby Village Fayre on 13 September. We are planning to have a tent/canopy on the village hall patio with a colourful show of plants and produce – and lots of prizes to award as well! More information on the categories for these and how to enter the competition will follow as soon as possible.

The society holds an evening wine tasting event in the village hall every year to raise funds. Local wine expert Greg Shaw introduces us to selected wines from around the world, always with a horticultural theme, and there is a raffle with several prizes to be won. The event is always a sell-out!

There is also an active WhatsApp group which is available for members to share advice and photos, swap seeds swaps and sell plants.

Our events are usually advertised in The Link and the Daventry Express Village & District Diary and via the Badby Community Facebook page Badby Community Facebook Page
