Badby Village Hall

Badby Village Hall
Badby Village Hall is situated in the heart of the village, just off Main Street opposite the Maltsters Inn and overlooking The Green – a most delightful and attractive spot.  It is widely used to host a wide range of community activities, as well as serving as a popular venue for private meetings, parties, wedding receptions, etc.
Many local clubs, societies, classes and other organisations hold their meetings and special events at the Village Hall – some are for members only, so please check first.  Badby Parish Council meets at the village hall every 2nd Monday of the month (unless otherwise announced) at 7.30pm. You can find details of what is on at the Hall under News, Diary and the Clubs and Societies area of this website, and look out for notices in the Link, Daventry Express, the Parish Council newsletter, village notice boards and elsewhere locally.

Management

The day-to-day running of the hall and its finances is the responsibility of the Badby Village Hall Management Committee, a registered charity no. 304158. It operates in accordance with the The First Schedule to the Conveyance dated 1 May 1951 of The Village Hall and School House at Badby to Badby Parish Council.

The principal officers are Chris Lofts (Chair), Peter Cooper (Treasurer) and Zelda Shapter (Badby & District Horticultural Society appointee and Minutes Secretary). Also on the Committee are members appointed by groups and societies representative of the population of Badby & Fawsley (as defined in the charity’s constitution): Ann Cotton (Badby & Fawsley Women’s Institute), Pen Keyte (Badby & District Film Society), Angela Murphy (Badby Parish Council), Janet Cooper (T4U), together with Co-opted members Kay Purnell and Monique Shortt.

The Village Hall team is completed by Sue Blundell, the Hall Caretaker.

The Annual Reports of the Management Committee, including the annual accounts, are available below:

Funding

The Village Hall is entirely self-financing, relying on income from lettings together with fund-raising. Grants have been received for specific activities and projects, and during the Covid pandemic. Regular fundraising events are therefore an important part of the annual programme of Village Hall activities. In recent years these have included the annual Bluebell Teas in May, a Burns Night supper and dancing in January, and a Race Night, Quiz Night, Jazz Night or Wine-tasting Evening in the autumn. Such events are well-supported and raise important funds for the upkeep of the Hall. The Committee is very grateful for this support. And, of course, private donations are always welcome!
