Badby Village Hall

Internet and wi-fi – Capabilities and Conditions of Use

There is no telephone or landline at Badby Village Hall and there is patchy mobile reception in Badby generally.  If you intend to use your mobile phone or mobile data device in the Hall, then the best carrier is O2 (including services that use the O2 network, such as Tesco Mobile).  Other carriers may give limited reception (voice and data), if any.  It is worth trying in different parts of the Hall.

Badby Village Hall wi-fi

Internet access is available in the Hall over a wi-fi network.  The network can then be used by hirers and users to access the Internet by logging in their phones, tablets and other devices.  The network does not have any attached devices itself.  Users wishing to use the Internet for music will need to have their own account on a streaming service (e.g. Spotify, Apple Music) which can then be connected to the Hall’s sound system by Bluetooth or 3.5mm plug.

Please note that the Hall does not have a TV licence and the network may not be used to watch live or streaming TV (including BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Now, Sky Go)

Wi-fi is available throughout the Main Hall, Committee Room and Kitchen.  A password is required to log onto the network which is shown on notices on the Hall walls – the network is encrypted (WPA/WPA2).

Conditions of use of the Badby Village Hall wi-fi network and equipment (“the network”)

Although Badby Village Hall Management Committee (BVHMC) aims to offer the best wi-fi service possible, it makes no promise that the service will meet your requirements nor that it will be fault-free or accessible at all times. Network speed is no indication of the speed at which your wi-fi enabled device or our wi-fi service sends or receives data – actual network speed will vary based on configuration, compression and network congestion.

Access to the Badby Village Hall wi-fi network is provided on condition that:

  • the network is used only for purposes connected with the event being held and for reasonable everyday use by attendees – streaming and significant downloading for any other purpose is not permitted
  • no material is accessed which in law it would be an offence to possess, transmit or publish, or which could be reasonably expected to cause offence to others
  • no attempt is made to alter the settings of the router, wi-fi network or wi-fi extender
  • no attempt is made to access any other person’s wireless device or to interfere with their use of the network
  • users are responsible for ensuring that any wi-fi enabled device they use is compatible with our wi-fi service – performance of the network is dependent on memory, storage and any other limitations of their device
  • BVHMC will not accept liability for any damage or malfunction however caused, nor any liability for any loss resulting from the non-availability or malfunction of the service
  • BVHMC is not responsible for data, messages or pages that you may lose or that become misdirected because of interruptions to or performance issues with the network generally
  • users are recommended to have anti-virus and anti-malware software installed on their devices and that it is kept updated – BVHMC accepts no responsibility for viruses or security breaches
  • deliberate or wilful misuse of the wi-fi network may result in access being withdrawn.
