Save Bus Route 200 E-Petition

Badby Parish Council has begun an e-petition on the West Northamptonshire Council website.  The e-petition reads:

We the undersigned petition the council to ensure the continuation of current Bus route 200 (linking Daventry and Banbury and villages en route), if necessary by subsidising the cost of the service to the extent that the existing contractor, or another contractor, could run it as a financially viable route.

Bus route 200 is a vital service to residents of the towns and villages along the A361 Daventry – Banbury.  For example, some rely on it to get to work, non-driving pensioners rely on it to get to either town, job-seekers rely on it to enable them to fulfil their obligations under Universal Credit rules, Saturday shoppers in particular use it to get to local markets, thereby boosting the local economy.  The current operator, Stagecoach, has indicated that the service will be terminated in January.  If that were to happen, with no replacement, many residents of this most westerly corridor in West Northants would be stranded.  Surely, as an eco-committed Council, the prospect of a cut to public transport should be avoided at all costs.

Parishioners of villages all along the route, not just from within Badby Parish, are encouraged to sign this petition by following the link below.  The petition remains open until 30 November 2022.
