At St. Mary’s we shall celebrate our Harvest Festival on Sunday 8th October at our 11am service. It is tradition at that service to give thanks for our food but also to remember those who have less. So people are invited to bring what they can spare to Church for it to be passed to those in need.
In Daventry there is an excellent food bank which is, unfortunately, very much used at the moment, with a never-ending stream of people referred to it as the cost of living crisis hits them. Badby has always been a strong supporter, and food is taken three times a week from us to them. However, recently there has been a fall-off in donation. A few stalwarts have continued with their generosity but there are certainly fewer of them. We might all be feeling the pinch but it can only be a few of us who are wondering where the next meal is coming from.
Harvest Festival seems a good time to reawaken enthusiasm for supporting the food bank, so I wonder if you would consider giving what you can. All food is gratefully received, with the exception of baby milk, so please give literally anything you can spare (even cake!). You could simply put your offerings into the box in the Church porch at any time, or bring them to the service on Sunday 8th October at 11am. All food will be taken to Daventry food bank.
And it would be good to continue to remember those in need throughout this coming winter.
