Monday morning 21 March was nice, calm and bright, nippy at first, but a good omen for a week that stayed warm and sunny.
Shaun and Alex carried on with the chancel roof sheet jointing and had completed most of the metal joint cappings on the chancel roof, including the ridge cover, by Wednesday.

Stonemasons Charlie and Sean cut off the unusable parts of the nave parapet capping stones in the churchyard. The pile of discarded pieces seemed to grow very quickly! By Tuesday, they had hoisted all the retrievable capping stones back up to the roof and set them in place on lime mortar starting from the west end. Those in worse condition went on the north side further away from the public gaze.

The new Great Tew stone will be set on the east end of both north and south sides when the stone has been cut and the top scrolls carved.

On Wednesday afternoon, the scaffolders removed the clock face access platform, giving us a better view of the gleaming face. This scaffolding was put to immediate use to build a platform for the stonemasons to get safe access for re-fixing the sloping nave roof gable end capping stones.

On Thursday, Harry and Oscar started applying the new chancel parapet capping.
