A D Scaffolding (Leicester) Ltd arrived from Coalville to start the scaffolding on Tuesday 18 January. They were able to park and off-load alongside the south churchyard wall which had been coned off for them. The scaffold to the south aisle roof was first erected, giving side support to build up on that roof to the higher nave roof.

The scaffold on the north side of the nave was built up onto the north aisle roof, supported from the raised parapet.

The scaffold to the chancel roof followed. The bridge walk way to give access for the removal of the clock face was completed by Friday.
All completed without any rain but it was a bit cold!

On Thursday there was some local entertainment when the scaffolders’ lorry broke down going up Church Hill and was rescued by a heavy recovery truck.
The church remains open during the daytime until Friday 28 January afternoon. Then the inside will be prepared and sheeted to prevent falling dust, dirt and anything else falling on the organ and furnishings and it will be closed to prevent injury to people.
