Bellringing

The bells are ‘up’ – set mouth upwards.

On Saturday 26 April the Bicester bellringers are having a ringing outing in this area.  They will ring our bells from 11.15am – 12 noon.  The ringing will consist of raising the bells, ringing several short ‘touches’ so that everyone can have a ring.  They will leave the bells ‘up’ ready for the village team to ring before service on Sunday morning – apologies – that the clock cannot chime whilst the bells are ‘up’.

On Sunday afternoon from 2.30 -3.30pm the Daventry branch of the Peterborough Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers have organised a quarter peal especially for one of our own village team to ring – about 48 minutes of continuous ringing – for the first time.  If the tower captain  remembers,  a cctv monitor will be installed inside the church for visitors to see the actual bells ringing.

To average out the amount of ringing this year, there will be the once-in-a-century occasion when there will be no bells in the tower. From 16 June until 1 September they will be away for refurbishment at a specialist workshop in Bridport, Dorset.  This means that not only will there be no ringing but the clock chimes will not be able to operate.
