Saturday 11th May: Puccini’s Tosca (1992)
Our Supper at the Opera series brings you Giacomo Puccini’s most dramatic opera, filmed at the locations in Rome prescribed by the composer, and at the times of day at which each act takes place. Starring Plácido Domingo, Catherine Malfitano and Ruggero Raimondi, and conducted by Zubin Mehta, this stunning performance was broadcast live throughout Europe. Friday 31st May: Tár (2022)
A psychological drama written, produced and directed by Todd Field. It stars Cate Blanchett as Lydia Tár, a world-renowned conductor facing accusations of sexual misconduct. Named ‘Best Picture of the Year’ by more critics than any other film released in 2022, it received 5 BAFTA and 6 Oscar nominations, and won the Best Actress BAFTA for Blanchett. “It’s a work of genius.” [152 mins, 15 certificate]
