Our Supper at the Opera series brings you Nicholas Hytner’s Paris production of Czech composer Janáček’s magical animal opera. The anthropomorphic fable portrays a young fox cub who is captured by a gamekeeper, escapes, marries a fox, has a family, and is shot by a poacher. Conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras, it stars Thomas Allen & Eva Jenis. Only 1¾ hours long, it has been described as “a grown-up fairy tale, ravishingly done… alluringly colourful designs… a real charmer of an opera… a triumph!” [98 mins]
