Ride and Stride 2021 on Saturday 11 September –

What is Ride and Stride?

Ride and Stride – the foremost annual fun fund-raising event to help preserve churches and chapels and keep them active in our communities. A great day out discovering England’s churches.

Ride & Stride is a sponsored event for cyclists, joggers, walkers and horse riders. Any mode of transport can be used as long as sponsors are happy; a couple of people have used vintage cars!

Money raised helps Northamptonshire Historic Churches Trust to continue supporting our marvellous churches across the county with essential repairs and improvements. Ride and Stride is an opportunity to raise money not only for the Trust but for your own church, as we return 50% of the money to the church of your choice (St Mary’s Church, Badby please! – We have already been pledged £5,000 by the Trust towards the Roof Repair Project).

Some participants challenge themselves to visit as many churches as they can by their chosen mode of transport (For example – walking around the many historic churches and chapels in central Northampton). Others prefer a more leisurely approach, visiting fewer churches and taking more time at each (For example – cycle around the churches bordering Rutland Water).

There is no age limit – it is a great family activity – and you plan your own route then simply download your Sponsorship Form by clicking here and selecting ‘print both sides’.

Churches are usually open from 10am to 6pm although there are some that close earlier.  Details are available on the spreadsheet of Participating Churches downloadable here.

Ride and Stride is a countrywide event always held on the second Saturday in September.
