This is an explosively visceral retelling of a defining moment in British history, the infamous 1819 Peterloo Massacre where British forces attacked a 60,000-strong peaceful pro-democracy rally in Manchester. Friday 13th December 2024 the film will be ‘ West Side Story’ (2021)
Directed and produced by Steven Spielberg, and cited as one of the best musical films of all time, with some critics deeming it superior to the renowned 1961 film which we screened back in 2017. This newer version is “a knock-out: a dynamite blend of old-school musical showmanship and modern sensibilities; it’s one of the best movies of the year, and one of the best movies of the acclaimed filmmaker’s career – yes, really.” [149 mins, 12 certificate]
