A New Season for Badby & Farthingstone Cricket Club

With a full fixture list to look forward to, the cricket club’s new season started on Sunday April 26, 1pm start,  with our first visitors old rivals Crick Lions, the first of 23 scheduled matches.
This summer sees a refreshed club committee, led by new chairman Andy Nightingale, all determined to ensure the club’s future beyond this season and help continue the fine, long standing cricketing tradition that has existed in Badby for 170 years. The club would like to take this opportunity to pass on its heartfelt thanks to those outgoing committee members for all their previous hard work.
New plans for the season see the abolition of club membership fees to be replaced by a pay per play system: £10 match fee (includes tea), £5 for juniors and £5 (any player) for midweek matches. The club also hopes to put on several social events during the summer and welcomes any new players who want to play sociable, friendly, limited over (min 20 overs, max 30) Sunday afternoon cricket (all matches finish around 5pm-6pm) with midweek T20s (6pm-830pm). Nets take place most Thursday evenings (6pm-730pm), see our Facebook page for details – all welcome.
Families too are invited to come and watch at our beautiful ground at Long Roods off Chapel Lane in Badby (refreshments available).
Even if you’re not a cricketer but would like to help out in any way, again we would love to hear from you. Maybe you could help with preparing the ground for matches, providing teas or drinks on a match day or help out with the admin? Whatever you would like to do you can be assured of a friendly welcome – so why not join us and keep the spirit of cricket alive in Badby?
