St. Mary’s Church news

Badby Bells

A group of volunteers, many from the village, will help the professional bellhanger to off-load and hoist the bells and new fittings into the tower starting on Monday 2 March all being well! Hopefully the bells will be ringable and the clock chiming again by Sunday, 8 March with the first practice on Wednesday, March 11. There will be a cctv screen in the church so you can drop in to see work in progress up the tower.

There are two special celebrations planned: Sunday 24 May 24:  the 11am morning service led by Susan Rose will be based on bells, ringing and volunteers; Sunday 28 June: after the morning service, an afternoon of bells and barbecue will be held from 12 to 5pm for villagers and ringers, including ringing sessions and tours up the tower to see the finished work.

Soup Lunches

Our Lent soup lunches are now up and running.  You’ll be too late for the February dates, but there are lunches in March – on 5th (Elizabeth Hall 07710 243309), 13th (Jan Cooper 07561 806599), 20th (Monique Shortt 01327 704184) and 27th (Rachel Brodie rachelabrodie@gmail.com), so contact the hosts to see if they have a place left.

We suggest guests pay £10 each this year, which will be a donation to St. Mary’s.

Coffee Morning

Our next coffee morning will be on Tuesday 17 March in St. Mary’s, from 10.30am to noon.  Come and join us, not for pancakes this time, but for the usual cakes, coffee and tea.  The monthly Church draw will be done and all are welcome to join us.

The winners in the February Church draw were:  1st: Frances Williams, 2nd: George Hartshorn, 3rd: Gwen Edwards. To join the draw, please contact Frances Williams.
