The film screening on Friday 30th May is The Personal History of David Copperfield (2020)
A comedy-drama based on the 1850 novel David Copperfield by Charles Dickens, a semi-autobiographical tale of a young orphan who is able to triumph over many obstacles. Written, directed and produced by Armando Iannucci, it stars Dev Patel, Peter Capaldi, Hugh Laurie, Ben Whishaw and Tilda Swinton. “A wonderfully entertaining film, managing to both respect and reinvent the novel from which it takes its lead. It puts a fresh, funny, and utterly charming spin on Dickens’ classic, proving some stories truly are timeless.”
