The bi-annual Badby Fayre is now held on the second Sunday in September. It’s aim is to raise funds for the maintenance of St. Mary’s Church and to provide an opportunity for the village community to get together for an enjoyable event.
There was a 2 day Badby at Home event in 1982 organised by Michael A Clarke of Wheelwright Cottage. Then in 1984 and 1986 it developed as a bi-annual event -complete with heritage agricultural machinery (in Fennell’s Field), dog show, horticultural show, stalls, raffle, games, brass band on the Green and teas in the church, with advertising programme booklets sold in field and Challis’ car parks. Monies went to the St. Mary’s Church restoration fund.
Music, with stalls and games on The Green and tea and home made cakes on sale in the village hall. The Horticultural Show is held in a tent on the Village Green and the Green also hosts the popular Fun Dog Show.
